Inspiration everywhere!!

Every time I walk into Chapters, I see this pillow and it makes me smile 🙂pillow I love those watercolour rainbow stripes and the simple black script telling me to “be amazing”. It just makes me happy! It was my  inspiration for this week’s AE Digital Creative Team layout.PBALDWIN_3X4 LOVE NOTES LAYOUT

This is a two page 6×8 spread with a little surprise!PBALDWIN_FEB11_LOVENOTES3X4CARDSPBALDWIN_3X4 LOVE NOTES LAYOUT INSIDE

PBALDWIN_FEB11_LOVENOTES3X4CARDS_DETAIL1On the left, I used a set of water colour paints for painting some wide stripes on a piece of matte photo paper. I enlarged one of the cards from Ali Edwards’ “Love Notes 3×4” digital cards onto a 6 x 8 canvas in Photoshop Elements. Once the paint had dried, I printed the design right onto my painted page and cropped it down to 6×8. I added some gold sequins and stars to the page protector, and a little gold chipboard heart from Studio Calico’s Scrapbook Kit “Cirque”. (Once I figure out what I’m going to put on the other side of this page, I’ll sew the pocket up to keep the sequins inside.)

I had some fun playing with the picture on the right side of this spread! I’ve got a couple shots similar to these ones, but the two I chose lined up perfectly to create a little before/after flap of Emily playing peek-a-boo behind the living room curtains 🙂  The left side of the spread was so colourful, I decided to make these pictures black and white. I printed them both as 6 x 8 photos on 8.5×11 glossy photo paper and cropped them down to size. For the photo on the top, I cropped an extra 2 inches or so off the left hand side. I tucked the smaller photo into a 6×8 page protector and customized the size by stitching it to the seam on the right hand side of the main photo’s page protector (keeping the seem close to the photo), then cut off the extra bit with my paper trimmer. I added a clear index tab to the flap as a little prompt to “open the page”. Love watching you play inside

On the flip side of the little photo, I repeated the water colour painting with a skinnier brush and added another one of the sentiments included in the 3×4 Love Notes digital cards (erasing the Dear ___, and Love___,). It’s a fun little page and it makes me smile, just like that pillow!

Thanks so  much for stopping by today!

Video Tutorial: Goodnight Moon

Hey guys! I wanted to extend a big thank you to the awesome Studio Calico community for your support and enthusiasm for my Goodnight Moon layout, which has been selected as the “layout of the week”! Thank you so much!! PBALDWIN_JAN28_EVERYONEHASASTORYI received a question about how this layout came together, or more specifically, which parts are digital and which parts are paper. So I’ve whipped up a quick little video walk-through to break it down a bit more.

This layout is made with digital products from Ali Edwards’ “Everyone Has A Story” set, as well as paper products from the Studio Calico Far Far Away Scrapbook Kit (patterned paper), Project Life Kit (pink chipboard hearts with gold flecks), and Ivy Tower Add-on (that’s where the little moon and big letter “E” came from!).

PBALDWIN_JAN28_EVERYONEHASASTORY_DETAIL2Here’s a closer peek at the story 🙂 (and yes, I know there’s a typo…hate when that happens!) The font in the journaling here is “Avenir”.PBALDWIN_JAN28_EVERYONEHASASTORY_DETAIL1A

This little cluster of the moon with the heart and the gold  splatters and the “little stories” banner just might be my favourite. The title font is “Franklin Gothic”

Please feel free to ask your questions and I’ll do my best to answer them!!

Thanks again for all your support! It is sincerely appreciated 🙂
